| Count HIS blessings... (81)I read an article in the book last night and my soul was touched by the words and the verses quoted by the article, it was such a familiar verse in Paslm (103), but I don't think I have paid enough attention to the verse.
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle's.
The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed.
Let me count a few of His blessings, the book was right, it's countless, but it said count 10 or 20 and you'll feel different, I just wanna be grateful:
1. my car problem, it was like a miracle, you heard animal self-healing, but never car self-healing! I'll never forget!
2. PD operation successful, after the first failure, i was so frightened, me too young to take PD?.... He again!
3. Colleagues, more wisdom given to me to be friendly and cooperative w all!
4. energy, i like exercises now, this "likeness" is a miracle again, when you don't like, you never pick up!
5. going up staircases, so wonderful... before half of one floor made me exhausting, now 6 floors ok!!!
6. willing to play Taichi!
7. wife willing to exercise with me
8. cannulation much less pain
9. much less mistakes made during the HD
10. sympathy towards patients
11. no more curses towards others
12. empathy otwards other people
13. understanding more about love, love to family and love to other humans
14. calling father, and communicate with him with no hatred!!! so impossible before!
15. buying computer for mom iwth pleasure!
16. going to church with joy
17. learn so much from going to church, enriching my soul!
18. making so many new closed friends
19. work with more interest and joy
20. pray with heart and feel the existence of God, this is GREAT!!! you feel He listens and hears your prayer!!
21. feel the blessing much deeper and happier than the previous "loss" of being a christian!!!

20:7 [hb5] 不 可 妄 稱 耶 和 華 你 神 的 名 、 因 為 妄 稱 耶 和 華 名 的 、 耶 和 華 必 不 以 他 為 無 罪 。
[kjv] Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
[bbe] You are not to make use of the name of the Lord your God for an evil purpose; whoever takes the Lord's name on his lips for an evil purpose will be judged a sinner by the Lord
20:8 [hb5] 當 記 念 安 息 日 、 守 為 聖 日 。
[kjv] Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
[bbe] Keep in memory the Sabbath and let it be a holy day.

[kjv] Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

20:12 [hb5] 當 孝 敬 父 母 、 使 你 的 日 子 在 耶 和 華 你 神 所 賜 你 的 地 上 、 得 以 長 久 。
[kjv] Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
[bbe] Give honour to your father and to your mother, so that your life may be long in the land which the Lord your God is giving you.
20:13 [hb5] 不 可 殺 人 。
[kjv] Thou shalt not kill.
[bbe] Do not put anyone to death without cause.
20:14 [hb5] 不 可 姦 淫 。
[kjv] Thou shalt not commit adultery.
[bbe] Do not be false to the married relation.
20:15 [hb5] 不 可 偷 盜 。
[kjv] Thou shalt not steal.
[bbe] Do not take the property of another.
20:16 [hb5] 不 可 作 假 見 證 陷 害 人 。
[kjv] Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
[bbe] Do not give false witness against your neighbour.
20:17 [hb5] 不 可 貪 戀 人 的 房 屋 、 也 不 可 貪 戀 人 的 妻 子 、 僕 婢 、 牛 驢 、 並 他 一 切 所 有 的 。
[kjv] Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

20:18 [hb5] 眾 百 姓 見 雷 轟 、 閃 電 、 角 聲 、 山 上 冒 煙 、 就 都 發 顫 、 遠 遠 的 站 立 ．
[kjv] And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.

20:19 [hb5] 對 摩 西 說 、 求 你 和 我 們 說 話 、 我 們 必 聽 、 不 要 神 和 我 們 說 話 、 恐 怕 我 們 死 亡 。

20:20 [hb5] 摩 西 對 百 姓 說 、 不 要 懼 怕 、 因 為 神 降 臨 是 要 試 驗 你 們 、 叫 你 們 時 常 敬 畏 他 、 不 致 犯 罪 。
[kjv] And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
[bbe] And Moses said to the people, Have no fear: for God has come to put you to the test, so that fearing him you may be kept from sin.
20:21 [hb5] 於 是 百 姓 遠 遠 的 站 立 ． 摩 西 就 挨 近 神 所 在 的 幽 暗 之 中 。
[kjv] And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was.
[bbe] And the people kept their places far off, but Moses went near to the dark cloud where God was.
20:22 [hb5] 耶 和 華 對 摩 西 說 、 你 要 向 以 色 列 人 這 樣 說 、 你 們 自 己 看 見 我 從 天 上 和 你 們 說 話 了 。
[kjv] And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
[bbe] And the Lord said to Moses, Say to the children of Israel, You yourselves have seen that my voice has come to you from heaven
20:23 [hb5] 你 們 不 可 作 甚 麼 神 像 與 我 相 配 、 不 可 為 自 己 作 金 銀 的 神 像 。
[kjv] Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
[bbe] Gods of silver and gods of gold you are not to make for yourselves.
20:24 [hb5] 你 要 為 我 築 土 壇 、 在 上 面 以 牛 羊 獻 為 燔 祭 、 和 平 安 祭 ． 凡 記 下 我 名 的 地 方 、 我 必 到 那 裡 賜 福 給 你 。
[kjv] An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
[bbe] Make for me an altar of earth, offering on it your burned offerings and your peace-offerings, your sheep and your oxen: in every place where I have put the memory of my name, I will come to you and give you my blessing.
20:25 [hb5] 你 若 為 我 築 一 座 石 壇 、 不 可 用 鑿 成 的 石 頭 、 因 你 在 上 頭 一 動 家 具 、 就 把 壇 污 穢 了 。
[kjv] And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
[bbe] And if you make me an altar of stone do not make it of cut stones: for the touch of an instrument will make it unclean.
20:26 [hb5] 你 上 我 的 壇 、 不 可 用 臺 階 、 免 得 露 出 你 的 下 體 來 。
[kjv] Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
[bbe] And do not go up by steps to my altar, for fear that your bodies may be seen uncovered.

| My life my days my blessings and curses..(970)It's hard to treat curses as blessings, but I believe God has taught me to think so. Without this curse, I can never come back to God, and can never have the peace and rest and complete worry free. Medically I must have worried far too much to get the pressure. No wonder HK ppl said working in office is like fighting! (or battling!)
Up to 2008 my birthday, if a year has 365 1/4 days, then I have lived 16,070 days, and so up to 7th Sept, it should be 16,192 days! Most of the days full of pains and discomforts. Thank God for teaching the prayers of Jabez, from Chronicles 1.
And Jabez made a prayer to the God of Israel, saying, If only you would truly give me a blessing, and make wider the limits of my land, and let your hand be with me, and keep me from evil, so that I may not be troubled by it! And God gave him his desire.
Yes, I want truly a blessing from God, and make wider the limits of my land (my wealth and my status), and God's hand be with me, keep me from evil, so that I may not be troubled by it!
Will have to resume my work soon... Hope this is a different re-start, I don't have to rely on my very limited intelligence, I will rely on God for everything, and so I will have no worries at all! Worry about my treatment? No, He will take care.
Without this belieft, I must leave this world, 'coz the pressure is too tremendous for me to take, it's like a mountain onto a human being's back!

《赤壁賦》中多好的詞句，令人遐想不已…
寄蜉蝣於天地…當自己是一個朝生暮死的小蟲蟲，正所謂"夏蟲不可以語冰",一輩子都沒過過冬天,和牠談什麼冰呢? 又和我談什麼身後之事呢? 之後更說, "哀吾生之須臾, 羡長江之無窮", 人生苦短, 《聖經》中摩西也說, 人一生如夜之一更,卻充滿勞苦愁煩, 人的一生又短如一聲嘆息,轉眼便成空,"如飛而去".
人生又是極渺小,蘇東坡借客人云: 渺滄海之一粟, 強若曹操,舳艫千里,旌旗蔽空,釃酒臨江,橫槊賦詩,固一世之雄也,而今安在哉?!
然而山川相繆,鬱乎蒼蒼,正是桃花依舊面目全非,江山永駐,人去船空...
故他們想"挾飛仙以遨遊,抱明月而長終,知不可乎驟得,託遺響於悲風..."
多麼地悲切,想到人生如此,不免太消極了一點,雖則蘇軾隨後曰,惟江上之清風,與山間之明月,耳得之而為聲,目遇之而成色,取之無禁,用之不竭,是造物者之無盡藏也,而吾與子之所共食(共享用),仍然比較消極..
人得意時不容易寫出這種悲涼深刻的文章.

| When can I retire and what will I do then? (934)Do a simple calculation now in the context of Hong Kong.
If you have 1M, and the average return let say its 5%, (if you buy HSBC then it's more than this, and gives 4 times a year), so every year you have 50K as interests, divided by 12, so you have 4K to spend every month. Obviously this is NOT enough even provided you have a shelter, a place to stay (you may have it in TinShuiWai, or in some of the Islands, which costs less than 1M to own a flat).
So how about 2M? For a single person, you have more than 8K to spend as daily expenditure, it should be enough I think. With 3M or 4M for a couple, not too bad.
Then of course, it doesn't mean you life is like the oldies who spend their retirement in public parks watching other playing chess. I can still teach a few classes, but only for the high end, over 1k/h will be entertained...
Then I can do lots of meaning and interesting things, and I don't have to do lots of things I don't want and I don't enjoy, typically thouse things like "bend your waist (body) just for 50 kg rice, or for 50k money?)...
i enjoy reading, i'll read all the recommended articles in my previous master programmes, really lots of them!!!
i enjoy playing sports activities, let me do more of them to keep myself healthy
i enjoy playing piano and want to learn more music instruments, let's do it!
i want to learn painting and drawing,
i want to travel around china and the world
....
